Background
The SASEC Highway Improvement Project upgraded strategic road corridors in Nepal with financing from the Asian Development Bank. Work on this scale has to meet both national requirements and ADB’s Safeguard Policy Statement.
Scope
- Safeguard compliance monitoring and environmental audits on the Kanchanpur–Kamala, Mugling–Pokhara and Narayanghat–Butwal sections
- Review of contractors’ site-specific environmental action plans
- Monitoring of forest clearance, tree felling, wildlife protection and biodiversity measures
- Monitoring of grievance redress and of measures against gender-based violence and trafficking in persons
